I used to write copy and design services. Now I combine those skills.
Content design is a smart, user-centred way of writing and organising content. It combines service design methods and clear writing to make your website or online services more accessible and useful.
It always involves:
- user research: learning about your users and their priorities
- defining user needs: what your users need from your service and its content
- designing content: generating ideas, drafting, prototyping
- testing content: measuring what happens and how your users experience your new content
The words you use matter when it comes to how people access your services. Read about why.
I design content for organisations on a social mission
I design content for charities and other types of civic organisations. In 2020 I co-designed Digisafe, the UK voluntary sector’s first digital safeguarding guide. I also design content for other Catalyst projects and initiatives.
I also design for social businesses.
Whoever I’m working for I use Content Design London’s Readability Guidelines.
